What is a Cookie?

Small data files that are transmitted from a website to your PC hard drive are referred to as "cookies". They are not computer programmes but merely small text files that enable websites to store and gather information about the search habits of an Internet user. Most websites use cookies because they are part of the tool box and improve the user experience on the Internet. Cookies allow websites to provide personalised services (e.g. store login information, keep products in the shopping cart or display relevant content).
